Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (juvenile) - Wakarusa Waste Water Ponds, Wakarusa, Indiana - September 25, 2003

This juvenile Sharp-tailed Sandpiper was a second state record. It was one of many amazing rarities found by Dan Stoltzfus at this unlikely looking sewage pond in Wakarusa. Other remarkable records at this site include Mountain Plover (1st state record), Red-necked Stint (1st state record), and Curlew Sandpiper (2nd state record)!

These photos were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 995 Digital Camera attached to a Kowa TSN4 telescope.
