Unidentified Pterodroma Petrel - Gulf Stream, off Hatteras, North Carolina - May 28, 2017

This Pterodroma Petrel was well seen and photographed by many on a pelagic trip out of Hatteras North Carolina. Others on the trip got much better photos of the bird. It was at first thought to be an odd Black-capped Petrel, but when it was seen again two days later, photos taken on May 28th were examined more closely. Some birders think the bird is a Bermuda Petrel, while others feel it is actually a Fea's Petrel.

This photo was taken with a Canon 60D Digital Camera with a 100-400mm zoom lens.
