This bird was part of a remarkable day of birding in which I got two life birds on the same day. Bob Hughes of Chicago found this bird and called us while we were looking at a Varied Thrush in Munster. We had already seen a Snowy Owl and Pomarine Jaeger at Michigan City Harbor. After the Eider, we finished our day with a Hoary Redpoll (the other lifer) and a "Greater" Redpoll at a feeder in Porter County.
The following photo was taken with an Olympus OM2 SLR camera and a 500mm mirror lens.
