This interesting gull shows the field marks consistant with a hybrid between a Great Black-backed and Herring Gull. The intermediate size, back color, bill shape, primary pattern, and faint head streaking all point to a Herring X GBBG. This bird also matches published (and on-line) photos of presumed Herring X GBBG hybrids. This is the third year in four years that we have found a gull like this at this location.
