Hooded Crane - Goose Pond, Linton, Indiana - February 11, 2012

This astonishing bird was first discovered by John and Elaine Harley of Goshen. If accepted, this bird will represent a first state record for Indiana. This Crane was presumably the same bird observed for an extended period in Tennessee. Other records (that may involve this same individual) were in Idaho and Nebraska. The poor quality of these documentation shots is the result of extreme distance from the bird (400 yards), convection, and using only a 400mm lens.

These photos were taken with a Canon Rebel XSi Digital Camera with a 100-400mm zoom lens.
