Costa Rica Reptiles - October, 2019

We saw more reptiles on this trip - not only more lizards and turtles, but we also saw our first snake.


This beautiful six foot long Tiger Rat Snake was seen near Rancho Naturalista.



We saw a second, nearly identical Tiger Rat Snake crossing a road. Traffic stopped in both directions, allowing it to continue on its way.



We saw a wide variety of Basilisks ("Jesus Lizards").

This Striped Basilisk reminded me of something straight out of a Sci-Fi movie. We saw this one at Cope's fabulous yard.

We saw lots of very large Green Iguanas, usually way up in a tree.



We saw this White-lipped Mud Turtle from Cope's yard.



I got this shot of a Black River Turtle through the bus window as we left Selva Verde Lodge.
